The Lab vs Public Pickleball Courts in Miami: Where You'll Play More
Public courts in Miami are free and great for casual play. But the extra drive to The Lab is often shorter than the time you'd spend waiting between games on a busy public court, so you end up playing more, not less. And at The Lab, sessions are DUPR skill-verified, so everyone's in your range, while public courts have a random mix of levels.

How to Choose a Pickleball Paddle: Demo Before You Buy in Miami
Choose a pickleball paddle by weight, grip size, shape and core thickness, then demo it in real games before you buy. Specs on a box don't tell you how a paddle feels at the kitchen line. In Miami, The Lab's pro shop has demo paddles, rentals, and top brands like RPM and Joola.

What Is a DUPR Ladder League? (Coming Soon to The Lab in Miami)
A DUPR ladder league seeds players onto courts by DUPR rating and moves them up or down each week based on results. In The Lab's format, coming soon in Miami, you partner with everyone on your court, games go to a hard 11, players are ranked by points instead of wins, each court crowns a champion, and each week the top finisher moves up a court and the bottom finisher moves down.

Stuck at 3.5? How to Break Through a Pickleball Plateau
Many 3.5 plateaus come down to unforced errors, a weak soft game, and playing the wrong opponents. To break through, cut errors first, learn to drop and reset so you can get to the kitchen line, stay patient in dink rallies, and play a lot of games against people at your level or a bit above.

What Pickleball Skill Levels Mean: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5+
Pickleball skill levels describe consistency and shot control. A 3.0 can rally but makes frequent errors, a 3.5 is starting to dink and drop, a 4.0 plays a patient soft game with fewer errors, and a 4.5+ controls pace and placement under pressure. At The Lab in Miami, open play is split into 3.0–3.6, 3.7–4.4 and a 4.5+ Challenge Court.

No DUPR Rating Yet? How to Get Placed at The Lab in Miami
You can play at The Lab without a DUPR rating. Players without one attend a weekly club rating session first, so the club can place you on the right open play court (3.0–3.6, 3.7–4.4 or 4.5+). The day and time aren't announced yet, so message us to book your spot.

How DUPR Ratings Work (and How to Get Rated in Miami)
DUPR is a pickleball rating on a 2.0–8.0 scale, calculated from your match results instead of self-assessment. To get rated in Miami, create a DUPR account and play matches that are recorded in DUPR. At The Lab, open play courts are split by DUPR level, and players without a rating join a weekly club rating session to get placed.
