Open play hours: pickleball in Miami 7 days a week

Open play runs 7 days a week:

Day Open play
Monday–Thursday 6–9 PM
Friday Friday Socials (times coming soon)
Saturday–Sunday 9 AM–12 PM

Weeknight sessions fit after work, and weekend mornings are there for longer play before the heat of the day. The full, current timetable is always on the open play schedule.

How open play courts are split by level

This is the core of how The Lab works. Open play courts are split into three levels:

  • 3.0–3.6
  • 3.7–4.4: with DUPR verification.
  • 4.5+ Challenge Court: one court reserved for 4.5+ players at every open play session, with DUPR verification.

Every session is DUPR skill-verified, so the players on your court are actually at your level. That matters more than it sounds. To keep improving, you need to play consistently with players at your level or better. When everyone on the court is close in level, games stay competitive, points last longer, and you get more of the rallies that actually make you better. The goal is open play with no waiting between games and every game at your level.

No DUPR rating yet?

You don't need to arrive with a DUPR rating. The Lab runs a weekly club rating session for players without one, so the club can place you on the right court. Message us to book your spot, then book the open play sessions that match your level.

If you already have a DUPR rating, bring it. It tells us which court to put you on from your first visit.

What pickleball costs at The Lab

You can play without a membership. Here's what each option costs:

Option Price Best for
Drop-in $18 per session, with a free member account Trying the club, or playing now and then
Founding membership $99/month for the first 50 members, then $139/month Playing several times a week
Court rental $25 Booking a court for your own group

The math is simple: six drop-ins a month cost $108, more than the $99 founding membership. If you play more than five times a month, membership costs less, and the $99 price is only for the first 50 members. Compare every option on the membership page.

Who runs The Lab

The Lab is led by former professional pickleball player Juan Carlos Saez (JC). The club started as a group of friends pushing each other to get better, and it is still built around that idea: regular, level-matched play with people who want to improve.

JC also offers private coaching. See coaching at The Lab for details.

  3. Book your session. Choose an open play session from the schedule: a drop-in for $18, or unlimited play as a member.
  4. Show up and play. Park for free, grab a rental or demo paddle at the pro shop if you need one, and get on your court.

Who it's for

The Lab is built for players who want to get better and play regularly. If you're a 3.0 looking for steady games, a 4.0 who keeps getting stuck in mismatched open play, or a 4.5+ who wants a court of equals, the level split is the point. It's also an easy option if you're visiting Miami for a week or the season: you can drop in without a membership. See visiting Miami for the short version.

A quick first-visit checklist

  • Court shoes, not running shoes. Pickleball is all side-to-side movement.
  • Water. Miami is warm year-round.
  • Your DUPR rating, or a booked spot at the weekly club rating session.
  • A paddle, or plan to rent or demo one at the pro shop.
  • Your Playbypoint booking, so you're on the right session.
